WHO WE ARE

Our story begins back in 1978 when Mr. Pensos Petros, a graduate of the Athens Gymnastics Academy and appointed to a public school in Veria, came into contact with tennis.

A top English tennis coach had come to the Agios Kosmas sports facilities in Athens and had held a seminar under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Sports with the aim of developing the sport in Greece.

THE BEGINNING

In turn, the resourceful Mr. Petros, as he became known to the general public, created the Vikelas Tennis Club of Veria, which was the 32nd oldest club in all of Greece and of course the first in the Prefecture of Imathia.

The school he created, combined with his knowledge, his method and his contagiousness, resulted in many players who later starred in junior, men's and veterans' championships at both the Greek and international levels.

One of the players created by Mr. Petros is his son Vangelis Pensos, who began playing the sport at the young age of 5.

Awards

He had few participations in the junior championships, as he did not travel that much, but later, between the ages of 19 and 31, he played continuously in the Greek men's tennis championship, with his highlight being winning the 8thης place in the Panhellenic men's ranking in 2009 and his participation in 2 Panhellenic open men's finals in Kefalonia (2009) and Naoussa (2006).

From 2014 onwards, his competitive activity continues to this day in the international veterans' championships (ITF MASTERS TOUR), with dozens of titles in singles and doubles and with a highest ranking of world number 46 in singles (2015), 36 (2017) in men's doubles and 8 (2016) in mixed doubles.

In the area of coaching, Mr. Petros passed on his method and all his knowledge to his son Vagelis, who later in 2013 received his license to practice the profession from the tennis coaching school organized by the General Secretariat of Sports.

Vagelis' contact with coaching began at a young age when Mr. Petros would give him young athletes to play with and help them at the Veria Tennis Academy in the 90s. Then, when he began his studies at the American College of Thessaloniki in the field of Business Administration as a student-athlete, he worked at the college courts as a coach from 2007 to 2015, where he moved to Corfu to work at the Corfu Tennis Club (2015-2021).

In 2021, in collaboration with the company IOANNIS MANIATOPOULOS SA, they decided to create a high-standard German quality clay tennis court. Our story continues to this day here at the Livadi Nafsika hotel with another innovation for Corfu, PADEL.

After careful consideration, the two sides decided to expand their collaboration with a new Spanish-built PADEL court that will operate for the first time for the general public of Corfu.
